What I WRITE

I write fiction inspired by swamps and what might live inside them, by the Hanna-Barbera Thumbelina tape I watched every day of my childhood and the fairytale I read for the first time yesterday, by mommy issues, and the things that babies say, and by an always thrumming fear of climate change and ecosystem destruction.

I’m interested in how physical laws and landscapes shape human sociality and understanding, and how we reflect, transmit, and transform that understanding through stories, from folklore to science fiction.

My current projects are a story collection and first novel.

WHO I AM

I’m a queer writer who was born and raised in Memphis Tennessee. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing and a BS in Physics from University of Memphis. In my time at the MFA I served as a fiction editor and contest coordinator for the Pinch Literary Journal. My writing has been supported by the Sundress Academy for the Arts and Crosstown Arts. I’ve worked in childcare, urban agriculture, content creation and marketing. I live in Memphis with my two dogs, seven fish, and an unknown number of shrimp.
